On Tuesday 5th February 2019, we'll welcome the Year of The Pig and to celebrate, Ushvani is launching a new Jade Stone Ritual, a treatment inspired by Chinese New Year. In Chinese culture, the Year of the Pig is synonymous with prosperity and good health and these are also attributes of Jade. In traditional Chinese medicine, Jade is used to ease a multitude of health issues and to increase positive energy and Ushvani provides the perfect space to allow guests to restore their mind and body so they can meet the challenges of modern living.

The Jade Stone Ritual (120mins, £250) is designed to bring the therapeutic Earth elements together with Ushvani’s highly popular Balinese Massage, creating a deeply relaxing and effective Spa ritual. Jade is frequently used throughout Asian and Chinese medicine and regarded as an effective tool to ease muscle tension, increase circulation and stimulate the lymphatic system. Jade also increases the flow of Chi life force energy and in traditional Chinese medicine, this is believed to prevent a multitude of health issues and create a positive state of mind.

So what does it involve?

The beauty of Jade stones is that they can be applied warm or cool directly onto the skin to increase the benefits of massage therapy. Warm stones allow for any deep-seated tension to be released, while cool stones have a detoxifying and invigorating effect on the lymphatic and nervous system.

The Jade Stone Ritual begins with a deep breathing sequence and inhalation of Ushvani’s signature balm to clear the mind and enable deep relaxation. The therapist will then begin by applying warm Jade stones to specific areas of tension. The Balinese Massage will then be performed combining Ushvani’s signature massage techniques with the use of warm and cool Jade stones.

To complete the massage, a warm Coconut and Kemiri Body Mask is applied, and a soothing facial and scalp massage is then performed using cool Jade stones. This relaxing facial and scalp massage provides a contouring and lifting effect that also stimulates the lymphatic system, restoring the skin’s natural radiance. The Ritual is completed with a traditional Malay Mandi shower.

Did you know?

Chinese New Year is the most important and longest of all the Chinese festivals and observed by both Chinese and Western communities worldwide. In traditional Chinese custom, the New Year is honoured for the first month of the new Lunar Calendar to bring luck and prosperity for the year ahead.

Those born under the sign of the Pig are ruled by the natural element of Earth, and so embody the typical characteristics we see in Earth signs. Earth tends to be very loyal, hardworking and caring towards others. However, Earth signs have a tendency to neglect their own well-being needs in order to achieve their personal and professional goals. This can be a common issue many people encounter, trying to balance the demands of a busy lifestyle whilst maintaining a high standard of health and well-being.

The treatment will be available until Saturday 30th March 2019. For more information or to book, visit www.ushvani.com or call 020 7730 2888.
