Your London Wedding - Page number 50 - September/October 2021 (Issue 79)

Choosing the church was easy, we are Catholic and go to the sister church in North Greenwich nearer our home, but we knew Our Ladye Star of the Sea was closer to the ORNC and it was the same priest, so it was a no-brainer. We went for flowers as a runner down the middle of the tables. We had a light-up heart frame the space behind us, and then a plinth with urn and flowers on either side of that to create height in the room. We also had a relaxed seating area with champagne-coloured sofas and pouffes. Tablescaping was an important aspect of our wedding because we had such a big room and very high ceilings, so we wanted to make sure that we were able to use the space well. We ended up having a T-shaped table with us, the chief-bridesmaid and best man on either side of us, and then the long part of the T had our remaining 26 guests. Our cake was white with a blue marble- effect on the top layer, and white roses and thistle sugar flowers on top. The venue was in Greenwich where John and I spent a lot of time pre- pandemic, John had also spent lots of time there as a child. When we took the tour of the ORNC we knew we had to have our reception there. 50
