Q&A Beauty Our local experts answer your pre-wedding worries IN A FLASH I’ve noticed in photos, especially those with flash photography, that my appearance always looks so pale! I’m worried about this happening in the wedding photos? What’s the reason for this, and how can my make- up artist correct this for my wedding day? Huda says: To avoid flashback make sure you use the exact colour foundation to match your skin tone. Avoid using foundations with built-in SPF and use a concealer that is the right tone for you ‒ avoid going too light. Heavy foundations full of SPF that are too light for your skin tone will make you look pale and washed out in your photos. Next when choosing a setting powder, don’t use a completely white powder instead choosing one that tones the skin. Don’t bake your setting powder and avoid powders that contain silica, this is the main ingredient that causes the flashback, often labelled as ‘HD powders’. An experienced make-up artist will have a kit bursting full of products that will ensure you don’t look pale or experience flashback in your wedding photos, so trust the experts and share your concerns with your make-up artist. I saw on your website similarities to cupping, and wondered whether I’d be left with the telltale red marks, which of course, I wouldn’t want on the big day. Dajana says: That’s a very good question! Although HYPOXI is using a mild version of cupping, it doesn’t leave any long-lasting marks on the skin. There are some visible circles and the skin can appear pink right after the session, but it does disappear within the next hour. We treat many brides-to-be as close as the day before the wedding and the HYPOXI cupping isn’t an issue.
