New and improved venues are springing up all over the capital this season – and we’re delighted to be highlighting some of them in these very pages – from the Old Royal Naval College’s Painted Hall (page 37) to Chelsea Old Town Hall (page 9), the city’s wedding offer has never been better.
Can you tell I’m a little bit in love with London right now? And you will be too if you turn to our photography special on page 69 where we’ve featured the best backdrops in the city – from iconic landmarks (hello, the Gherkin and Dome) to secret gardens and quiet corners.
Indeed, our real weddings this issue (page 46) provide the perfect illustration of just how diverse this metropolis can be. From the bucolic splendour of Kew to East London’s industrial warehouses, there’s a venue to suit every couple.

Gunnersbury Park
Gunnersbury Park House has stood witness to sumptuous parties throughout the century and this Grade II* venue continues to cater for carousers to this day thanks to a recently completed £21 million restoration project.
Across the estate, there’s a range of spaces for parties large and small from the Regency house itself to the stunning glass Orangery and the classical 18th-century Temple, which sits serenely on the Round Pond and offers spectacular views over London. In the house, choose from the drawing or dining rooms, which both seat up to 90 ceremony guests, or the long gallery where 40 loved ones can look on as you exchange your vows. The Orangery has space for 80 friends and family for ceremonies and receptions alike, while the Temple can accommodate 50 nearest and dearest for an informal affair.
The Rothschild Rooms, situated within the house, are ideal for large parties of 180 diners, or can be split into three for more intimate celebrations of 80. Outside, there’s 72 acres of beautiful parkland to explore with your photographer and, needless to say, an abundance of pretty backdrops.
