March/April 2021

Does anyone else feel like they’ve been on a rollercoaster ride over the past year? From lockdowns and restrictions to WFH and Zoom calls – these are all things we have learned to adapt to. Throw wedding planning into the mix, and it’s incredible that we’ve made it through!

What has been a silver lining for me in these utterly bonkers times is seeing how the London wedding industry has taken everything the pandemic has thrown at it in its stride. Tales of companies diversifying, volunteering and sending homemade presents to their couples have put such a smile on my face and make me proud to support our local wedding superstars. If you want to sing from the rooftops about how wonderful your big-day suppliers have been throughout date changes, postponements and last-minute micro-weddings, then we’d love to hear from you.

In this issue, we aim to help you get that to-do list ticked off, with sparkling jewellery picks to finish your bridal look (page 61), our round-up of the city’s best historic venues (page 25) and some serious gown inspiration (page 73) courtesy of our fashion editor, Claire Ridley.

Enjoy!

Morden Hall

Set within 125 acres of National Trust parkland, weddings at Morden Hall are surrounded by natural beauty. Wedding parties leave the city behind and step into a world of tranquility in this exclusive-use 18th-century country house. Couples are free to explore the idyllic surroundings and let their photographer capture precious moments while they enjoy the grounds.

Visitors step through the doors to find that elegance and charm is found inside as well as out. Couples can choose a small personal ceremony or a lavish affair, complete with contemporary décor, ornate fireplaces and stunning views.

Intimate ceremonies are held in the first-floor Hawthorn Suite (70 guests), with its views over the grounds. Alternatively, couples can make their way upstairs to the beautifully light Willow Suite (120 guests) to say their vows by its ornate fireplace. For the more contemporary couple, the Mulberry Suite (150 guests) is the ideal option. Full of natural light and wow-factor high beams, guests can spill straight out onto the lawns. The venue is also soon to have an outdoor ceremony licence.

After the formalities, many newlyweds choose to dine in the Mulberry Suite (140 guests), while the Willow Suite is set up for an evening of dancing. With access to the grounds and a bar right next door, it’s the ideal celebration space.
