Happy planning!

July/August 2021

Hugs from friends, happy tears during the ceremony and busting moves on the dancefloor – these are some of the things I’ve missed about weddings. Not to mention the flowers, the cake, the delicious food, the anticipation of what the happy couple are wearing, the entertainment… the list goes on! We could get stuck feeling upset for those whose plans have been ravaged – my friends are on their fourth wedding date – instead, I’m going to channel the emotion from all the hard times and missed events to ensure that I make the absolute most of every second with loved ones.

This issue is all about celebrating the incredible London wedding suppliers who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic: from the cake makers (page 49) and venues (page 19) to the make-up artists (page 85) and stationery designers (page 58). Whether you’re planning your big day for the fourth time or you’re recently engaged, these pages will provide everything you need to plan the ultimate celebration.

Dartmouth House

This Grade II listed mansion is situated on the stylish Charles Street in the heart of Mayfair, close to the buzz of the West End. The fountain, wrought-iron tables and architectural style of the venue’s Courtyard create the atmosphere of a French château. Inside, the elegant mansion boasts classical interiors and original features. With light, airy rooms and a subtle palette throughout, the venue complements all colour schemes, while the grand marble staircase is a picture-perfect spot for photos.

Couples can tie the knot in the stunning Churchill Room (100 guests), which features floor-to-ceiling antique Louis XIV walnut panelling. Receptions can be held for up to 450 loved ones, with the most popular space being The Courtyard (150 guests), a memorable al fresco spot in the heart of the city. The Revelstoke Room (70 guests) is the ideal space to take shelter from the British weather.

Award-winning make-up artist Lisa Armstrong shares her top make-up hacks

Lisa Armstrong, award-winning make-up artist and brand ambassador for new Beauty Hygiene Plus shares her top three make-up hacks...1."There are so many tips and tricks of the trade, however I think that when doing a make-up look, such as my smoky eye, I would advise that you always start with the eyes. When I do it at work, or on a new client, sometimes they think I'm mad because I haven't started with their face. By doing the eye make-up first, any fallout or mascara spillages that may happen are easy to clean up before you put your primer on and start with the face make-up. It allows you to make a beautiful base with no marks or smears, allowing you the most flawless finish!"
