November/December 2020

As we move towards the end of 2020, and start looking forward to next year, I’m so excited for the 2021 weddings I’m attending, as well as the postponed events I have from last year. Being a wedding editor, it probably comes as no surprise that weddings absolutely fill me with joy, so seeing friends and family having to put a halt to celebrations was hard – but it does mean we get a bumper 2021 season!

Whether you’ve had to postpone or you’ve always planned to get married this year or beyond, these pages are jam-packed with inspiration to get your day exactly how you want it. In recent months we’ve all come to realise that celebrations with our loved ones are precious, and it’s with renewed love for life that we look forward to this happening again.

With the colder days, it’s time to get snuggled up on the sofa with a cuppa and your favourite wedding magazine (ahem!) and get planning the day of your dreams. We’ve got beautiful blooms in every colour (page 51), drop-dead gorgeous real London weddings to inspire you (page 32) and a round up of the best of the capital’s venues (page 15). Enjoy!

Kenwood House

Designed to be explored on foot or by carriage, there’s a surprise around every corner in Kenwood’s 112 acres of glorious parkland on the edge of Hampstead Heath. From jaw-dropping views of the city, to pretty gardens and modern sculptures, the grounds provide endless photo opportunities. Kenwood House is an elegant 18th-century mansion with graceful white exteriors. An impressive piece of Georgian architecture, it’s a well-loved London landmark.

Three adjoining rooms in the West Wing (80 guests) provide a wonderful combination for ceremonies and drinks receptions. Vows can take place in the ornate Orangery with its magnificent views, followed by canapés and a toast in the Green Room and Music Room with their glittering chandeliers and classical artwork.

Intimate receptions are held in the Dining Room (40 guests), while larger parties will love watching the sun set from the beautiful Orangery (80 guests) while enjoying a delicious wedding breakfast. The large octagonal Old Kitchen then plays host to the evening’s entertainment.

For those who love the great outdoors, the marquee space in the Flower Garden can hold up to 480 loved ones for dinner and dancing under the night sky.

Looking to make your wedding flowers stand out and create a setting that your guests will remember? We turned to London florist Hazel Gardiner to find out the latest trends and styling options for your florals. "We love creating oversized installations, finding inspiration from magazine editorials and catwalk set design. Suspended clouds are proving popular using either fresh flowers or dried varieties alongside faded palm leaves. If working with a smaller budget, foliage bunches hung upside down above long tables give great impact."
