January/February 2022

January/February 2022

I just love the feeling of a fresh new year. Setting those goals for the year ahead and looking forward with excitement and positivity rather than back over what a year it’s been. That feeling very much reminds me of the day after our wedding. Starting afresh as Mr and Mrs, embarking on our new life as a married couple and wondering what adventures it’d bring.

I often set new year resolutions that I vow to stick to (and I do keep to them… for at least a few weeks anyway!). Promising to stick to something also reflects your wedding vows – although the difference is, you do keep to those because that bond’s slightly more meaningful than keeping away from chocolate right? That one lasts a long and happy lifetime.

So, what will 2022 bring? Hopefully weddings galore, an awful lot of love, laughter and heaps of fun! You might be tying the knot soon or just starting on your planning journey. Either way, this issue is sure to help you bring your dreams to life!

We have our pick of gorgeous venues from page 19, local pros share their top planning tips on page 79 and enhance every inch of your venue with the styling feature on page 59. For the fashionistas out there, our Vogue-inspired shoot on page 55 will be right up your street and if you love bold and bright head to page 51 for an abundance of cultural fusion in our Africa-inspired shoot. If all of that isn’t enough, check out our gorgeous real weddings on pages 31, 36 and 45.

Happy planning!

The Lansdowne Club

The Lansdowne Club is ideally located in the heart of Mayfair. Built in 1763, by renowned 18th-century architect Robert Adam, over the centuries Lansdowne House has played host to many key historical moments.

With its impressive neo-classical architecture and elegant interiors, this exclusive and traditional private members club in London is an architectural gem and enchanting backdrop to the big day. Offering the potential for an al fresco element to your celebrations, the wonderful Winter Garden and Courtyard provide picturesque surroundings for champagne receptions and photographs. With its cleverly designed retractable roof, this beautifully landscaped outdoor space can be enjoyed all-year-round.

Couples can host their nuptials and receptions in the club’s legendary Grade II listed Ballroom with up to 150 guests. The epitome of grandeur, its 18th-century gilded, vaulted ceilings and minstrel galleries are magnificent.

The Adam Room accommodates 70 guests and boasts stunning décor giving this elegant drawing room an unreserved air of richness and splendour, with soft colours, fine details and a beautiful ornate ceiling, magnificently adorned with a shimmering chandelier.

Post-vows, additional to The Ballroom, the timeless elegance of the Crush Hall is the perfect space for your cake-cutting ceremony with its luxurious wall coverings, original antique furniture, elegant chandelier and ornate gallery. Or head outside, weather permitting with 150 guests to celebrate in the The Courtyard & Winter Garden.

Couples who are getting married here will become honorary Club Members throughout their stay, meaning they will be able to enjoy the club’s exclusive facilities including the magnificent indoor 25-yard, Art Deco swimming pool, relaxing steam room, and light and airy state-of-the-art gym. What’s more, there’s the wonderful Bridal Suite and 20 perfectly appointed guest rooms and suites, for exclusive use.

Kasey Clarke, Founder of Sweet Cakey Thing, explains how certain ingredients used in baking can actually be better for your skin compared to some moisturisers, leaving your skin looking hydrated and glowing. We all dreamt of smothering ourselves in cake as a child, yet even then, that sort of behaviour wouldn't go down too well at the dinner table. However, founder of Sweet Cakey Thing, Kasey Clarke, is here to explain why covering ourselves in cake is absolutely a good thing, as long as the ingredients are too. Here, she shares seven baking ingredients, which will help keep skin nourished and hydrated, making your skincare routine a piece of cake, literally.
