Hugs from friends, happy tears during the ceremony and busting moves on the dancefloor – these are some of the things I’ve missed about weddings. Not to mention the flowers, the cake, the delicious food, the anticipation of what the happy couple are wearing, the entertainment… the list goes on! We could get stuck feeling upset for those whose plans have been ravaged – my friends are on their fourth wedding date – instead, I’m going to channel the emotion from all the hard times and missed events to ensure that I make the absolute most of every second with loved ones.
This issue is all about celebrating the incredible Essex wedding suppliers who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic: from the florists (page 53) and venues (page 19) to the make-up artists (page 86) and photographers (page 95). Whether you’re planning your big day for the fourth time or you’re recently engaged, these pages will provide everything you need to plan the ultimate celebration.

The Barbican
One of London’s most distinctive buildings, the Grade II listed Barbican is an icon of brutalist architecture. With its coarse concrete surfaces, landscaped gardens, lakes and trio of high-rise towers, it makes a memorable big-day backdrop. The Barbican Conservatory is a botanical oasis famous for its cascading plants, high glass roof and tranquil fish pools. Licensed to host weddings, it’s a magical space to celebrate with friends and family.
There are two ceremony options available. The spectacular Conservatory (80 guests) is a tropical joy to discover. The Conservatory Terrace (150 guests) is flooded with light under its glass roof and offers a magical setting overlooking thousands of plants. After the I dos, guests can enjoy drinks and canapés from the venue’s caterer, Searcys, while enjoying this tropical paradise.
Receptions for up to 300 guests are held in The Garden Room, which benefits from picturesque views of the city and Barbican Lakes. This newly refurbished space has a state-of-the-art lighting system to create the perfect atmosphere for post-dinner dancing.

Get those dancing shoes on - weddings are restriction free! |
|
The day has finally come – wedding ceremonies and celebrations are restriction free! Grab your dancing shoes and get ready to sing at the top of your voice: "Celebrate good times... come on!" It's been a long road that many of us have tentatively navigated over the last 16 months; from us here at County Wedding Magzines HQ to suppliers and couples. There's been small highs and many lows, as each glimmer of hope was put out by another government announcement. Lockdown 1.0 turned into 2.0 and then 3.0, wedding guest numbers went from 0 to 12, 15 to 30 and now we can actually invite all of our loved ones, friends and family dear to our hearts to the big day. There's really been no better time to say 'I do', not only will it be mask free (personal choice), socially distance-free and rule-free; but it will be a true celebration of marriage, a union of friends and family, love and friendship.
