March/April 2022

After what feels like months of cold weather and dark nights, Spring is finally upon us! My absolute favourite time of the year – temperatures are on the up, days are becoming longer and everything feels generally brighter. What a perfect season to gather inspiration from for your big day. Flowers are starting to bloom and trees are transforming from their wintery hardened exterior to flourishing branches of greens and brights giving us a hint of what’s to come over the next few summery months.

With so many colours and options around you, now’s the time to start thinking about your day. What colour scheme do you like, do you have a theme in mind, what sort of venue are you favouring, have you thought about a style of dress? All of these questions will be flying around your mind right now and that’s where we come in to help! We have a stunning selection of venues for you to browse from page 19, local photographers share their favourite pics over on page 53, page 59 onwards is where to start for all things fashion and don’t forget to add the finishing touch with our top jewellery and accessory advice on page 73.

For local inspiration, check out our gorgeous real weddings on pages 31, 36 and 43 and if you’re thinking of planning a minimoon, you can do just that here on your doorstep! I headed to Marylebone to see what this chic area of the city has to offer and the simple answer is – a lot! Read all about it on page 94.

Happy planning!

Le Gothique

The Grade II* listed Victorian Gothic-revival facade of Le Gothique is one of the best original exteriors of its kind in Britain. The spectacular towering spires, gargoyles and large statue of St. George give it a dreamy castle-like feel. An enchanting award-winning Secret Garden is found tucked within the venue. The perfect al fresco space for celebrations, it can be covered, heated and lit. A hard-standing patio with a barbecue is surrounded by neatly striped lawns and hanging floral baskets.

Inside, the space is split into two levels, with formal dining on the mezzanine floor and a Gothic bar occupying the ground floor. A bronze statue of Bacchus, the god of wine, adorns the west wall.

Outdoor weddings with 250 loved ones are accommodated in the Secret Garden and celebrations can also be held inside the venue in the Gothic Room for a maximum of 90 guests.

The venue can also help couples arrive in style with its vintage Rolls Royce to hire.

Are your parents contributing to your wedding day?

Are your parents contributing to your wedding day?

New research from Wealthify has found that just over a third (35.7%) of parents in the UK plan to contribute financially to their children's weddings.

More than 40% of parents in the UK plan to contribute between £1,000 and £5,000 with an additional quarter planning to contribute between £5,000 to £15,000 on their children's big days. A further 1 in 10 plan to fork out a substantial £15,000 to £30,000.

In a post-pandemic world, where many celebrations were cancelled or postponed, Brits are celebrating their nuptials in a big way. Data shows that we are spending more than ever, and London parents are the most generous on average, willing to cough up £14,757.14 to see their children tie the knot.
