May/June 2020

As I type, weddings are prohibited and no one knows when these restrictions will be lifted, which makes these worrying and difficult times for couples who had planned to wed this summer. While we wait, we’re here to help on two counts: first, advice for those who need to postpone or revisit their plans (turn to page 94 to read wise words from London suppliers) and, second, an escape from all that worry – after all, they can’t cancel our dreams.

And on that note, we’ve got plenty of inspiration for those of you still in the planning stages – from the glorious real weddings featured on page 26 to two beautiful shoots (pages 75 and 80).

And while our favourite London haunts may be shuttered for the time being, we can show our solidarity with words – we’ve featured some of our top spaces on page 15; many are offering virtual tours too – so click through to their websites and explore at your leisure. In the meantime, stay home, stay safe and love fiercely.

Brunswick House

Built in 1758, Brunswick House was named after the Duke of Brunswick who resided in the grand mansion for some time. It’s now Vauxhall’s sole surviving Georgian mansion, decorated head to toe in antiques. Indeed, this Grade II listed venue really takes you back to a forgotten time, leaving the roar of 21st century London behind. One side of the building houses an antique shop, which doubles as a private dining space, with a restaurant and bar occupying the other side.

There’s a wealth of options for wedding receptions from whole house hires to private dining in the intimate warmth of the venue’s Saloon and Smoking Room, not to mention dancing in the cellars after hours. In all, there’s space for 250 loved ones to celebrate your union.
