Mel and Dave celebrated their big day in some of the capital's most recognised landmarks.

Melanie Jane Barham, 29, married David John Carter, 41, at Old Marylebone Town Hall followed by a reception at Swan at the Globe and a party on the Thames on 23rd August, 2018.

Dave used to live near Old Marylebone Town Hall. There were loads of reasons why it didn't tick boxes: it's nowhere near our home in East London or any of the reception venues we were considering. However, it had just been through a massive refurbishment, the staff seemed so knowledgeable and I saw the twinkle in Dave's eye when we viewed it and I knew it had to be there. Sometimes you just have to trust your gut, and I'm so glad we did.

Picture perfect: Image 2Our invites featured black and white taxis as well as a stylised map of the city featuring our three venues.

My bridesmaids wore long lavender chiffon dresses by David’s Bridal – they’re both completely wonderful, beautiful ladies but opposite body types. Luckily it looked stunning on them both.

Picture perfect: Image 4We travelled to the venue in traditional Hackney carriages – one in white and one in black.

For us, the photography was the most important element of the day. I met Siobhan at a wedding fair and she seemed perfect for the job. We adore our wedding pictures.

Picture perfect: Image 6I tried on three dresses before I found 'the one'. However, I stupidly bought the dress thinking I would lose weight before the wedding. Never do that. I had a second dress for the evening do so I could dance comfortably.

Picture perfect: Image 6b I chose a hand-tied bouquet composed mainly of foliage for a loose and natural feel. It was a mix of eucalyptus, asparagus fern, French ruscus with dried lavender, three memory lane lilac roses and gypsophila.

We performed a choreographed routine for our first dance, which was an absolute hit – and we had so much fun learning it.
