Big-day beauty: It's all in the preparation

London-based skin care expert Claudia Talsma is the brains behind anti-redness skin care line Rosalique.Here, she explains how to create the perfect wedding make up base that will protect from the sun throughout your big day. 

1. Wear a high quality primer with SPF
The most important thing to bear in mind for a summer wedding is to wear a high quality primer with a minimum of SPF25. Brides forget that their skin will be exposed to the sun for quite a long time - think of all those outdoor photos. Most brides prefer a flawless natural complexion. 

2. Choose your primer and foundation carefully
Find a foundation or primer that is light and doesn't clog the pores. You want to make sure your skin keeps breathing, especially in warmer, or more stressful days!   Remember: On your wedding day, your makeup will sit on the skin all day and into the small hours, so be mindful of this and look for good quality ingredients.

3. Feed thirsty skin
You may be drinking lots of champagne on your wedding day! Alcohol dehydrates the skin, so try to remember to drink plenty of water also.
