January/February 2023

January/February 2023

It’s new year and that means either you’re another year closer or it’s finally the year of your big day… exciting! I just love the feeling that January brings. There are no January blues for me – I always feel excited at what’s to come in the year ahead. It’s a fresh start, a time to reflect and reset and kick the year off with the best will in the world to achieve everything I set out to achieve (usually carried over from the year before, and always involves winning the lottery – I can but dream!).

Then comes February and Valentine’s Day! You can’t miss it can you? As John Paul Young sang, 'Love is in the air, everywhere I look around, Love is in the air, every sight and every sound'… So true! What better time to enjoy your date nights and take inspiration from the romantic feeling that’s all around you – from the gorgeous flowers to the themed menus and lush hues of reds and pinks. Whether you’re in the throes of wedding planning or just starting out, this issue is sure to get you in the mood for creating the day of your dreams!

Check out where to tie the knot in East London on page 19 and our pick of hotel venues on page 23, local pros share their planning top tips on page 47 and get your Pintrest board at the ready with our venue styling feature on page 53. Our gorgeous real weddings are on pages 29, 34 and 41 and check out our local shoot on page 59 for even more big-day inspiration.

Happy Valentine’s and of course – happy planning!

Say 'I Do' to a Dry Wedding with Mavrik Alcohol-free Cocktails

Say 'I Do' to a Dry Wedding with Mavrik Alcohol-free Cocktails

With a growing number of people going sober or choosing to moderate their drinking, the traditional wedding 'knees up' may be a thing of the past as today's couples opt for a more sober affair - which everyone can remember! In the past, non-drinkers or designated drivers would be somewhat left out of the celebrations with access to only a sad selection of soft drinks or juices. However, now nearlyweds-to-be are putting as much effort into deciding what alcohol-free drinks to offer as they would apply to sourcing the Champagne for the toasts! Plus, not only are dry weddings a huge money saver, but they also allow guests to enjoy the day with a clear head and leave the event with all those special memories firmly in tact.
