New and improved venues are springing up all over the capital this season – and we’re delighted to be highlighting some of them in these very pages – from the Old Royal Naval College’s Painted Hall (page 37) to Chelsea Old Town Hall (page 9), the city’s wedding offer has never been better.
Can you tell I’m a little bit in love with London right now? And you will be too if you turn to our photography special on page 69 where we’ve featured the best backdrops in the city – from iconic landmarks (hello, the Gherkin and Dome) to secret gardens and quiet corners.

The Yacht London
This permanently moored 1927 steam yacht has been refurbished and repurposed and now serves as a wedding and events venue offering unparalleled views over the River Thames and its Southbank.
With four events spaces spread over three levels, there’s plenty of scope for events large and small. In summer, ceremonies take place on the open-air top deck, which boasts a retractable roof for wet weather days and can seat up to 100 guests.
Downstairs, the mid-deck restaurant is ideal for a wedding breakfast for the same number – and your loved ones will be able to continue to marvel at the river traffic via the floor-to-ceiling windows. Below, the 1920s cocktail bar is ideal for drinks receptions or as a dining space for smaller parties.
