If you are looking for a fun activity to do together to celebrate your engagement, an idea for a wedding present, or just to get out and do something different, then a one-to-one Couples Smartphone Photography Masterclass by Jet Lendon of Jet Black Squares could be the answer.

Smartphone cameras have evolved so much over the past 5 years, and we all now have an incredible camera in our pockets - we just need to learn how to use it properly. These tailor made Smartphone Safari's are a great idea to brush up your photography skills while seeing the sights of London. As an added bonus, Jet will also shoot some gorgeous couples photos of you both, taken on her phone, for you to remember the day. As well as learning the practical aspects of photography while shooting at your chosen location, you will also come away feeling more confident in front of the camera, which in turn will translate into your wedding photos.

There are so many amazing places to explore in London for you to choose from. Some favourites have included the incredible views up in The Sky Garden at Fenchurch Street, down on the 'beach' along the Southbank (tide times permitting), the sights and smells of Borough Market, the diversity of Brick Lane, the graffiti tunnel at Leake Street Arches and not forgetting old favourites such as Kew Gardens, The Olympic Park, Hampstead Heath and St Pancras/Kings Cross. Alternatively, if you have a place that is special to you both, then this are also an option.

If, however, you want to escape the city, then other locations are also available, including Cambridge, Oxford and even Paris via Eurostar. The choice is yours.

During your two-hour session, you will elevate your photography from quick snaps to fabulous photos, simply by using the camera on your phone. The session is split between practical photography and the editing of your photos. To start with, you will learn how to use your camera better, how to work with the light you have available, and how to compose your images so they stand out. Jet will also let you in on some of the tips and tricks of the trade to get those WOW shots, for both the landscape of your chosen area, and photos of each other. As mentioned above, during the session Jet will also shoot a selection of couples photos for you both on her phone and even though this isn't the main focus of the masterclass, it is a great way to practice your posing before the big day as she guides you through how to stand to get the best angles.

The second half of the masterclass focuses on editing your images using Snapseed, one of the best - and free - apps around whilst enjoying a complimentary glass of bubbly. You will go over the photos you have taken during the session with Jet, and edit your favourites together. Afterwards, you will be sent notes on using the app to remind you, as well as the edited photos Jet took of you both. (As a note, Snapseed is designed to enhance your photos, but does not include any body shaping/sculpting).

With Covid-19 restrictions being eased for now, masterclasses are slowly restarting with social distancing in place. However, government guidance is at the forefront of any decision, and with this in mind, any vouchers purchased have a 12 months validity (instead of 6 months), which can be reviewed if necessary. Take away refreshments may have to be offered instead of drinking inside a venue, but again, this will be reviewed in line with current guidelines.
